Butch - GSD X (Oldies Club)

Butch is a 7 year old German Shepherd cross who has suffered quite a lot of upheaval recently, following the death of his lifelong owner. He’s currently in an Oldies Club foster home in Nottinghamshire and is now ready to find his new forever home.

Butch has a big personality and a very loyal nature. He loves fuss and attention and will quickly bond with his owner. Typical of his breed though, he will quite happily take charge if you let him. He will therefore need a firm but understanding owner, preferably someone who has experience of German Shepherds.

Butch knows his basic commands and will “sit”, “lie down”, “wait” and “give a paw” when asked. He’s great on the lead and, if you give him a few minutes to control his excitement, he will walk to heel. He has good recall too and can be let off-lead. He loves to have a good run or socialise with other dogs, but he will come back when called.

Butch can’t live with cats (he enjoys barking at them!) and he’s a little too boisterous to live with young children, but he would be happy with another dog for company.

He’s quite lively and playful, but he can be a gentleman around other dogs. He currently shares his foster home with a female greyhound and he loves to chase her round the fields!

See Butch’s video here.

Butch is happy to be left for reasonable periods of time, but he really enjoys company and being the centre of attention. When you get home he gives you a very warm welcome, then promptly fetches his lead and drops it at your feet - a sneaky little way of telling you it’s time for Walkies!

Butch has been clean in the house from the first day he arrived in foster care and he always tells you when he needs to go out. He’s a very intelligent boy, always eager to please or learn new things - he’s living proof that you can teach an older dog new tricks! This big-hearted fellow will make a wonderful companion for some lucky person.

If you are interested in giving Butch a loving new home please refer to our Adoption Procedures for information about the adoption process. You can then contact an Oldies Club rehoming co-ordinator as follows:

Email: rehome@oldies.org.uk
Telephone: 0844 586 8656

Butch can be rehomed anywhere in the UK, subject to a satisfactory home visit, but note that you will be required to travel to the foster home to meet him.

Butchis gorgeous - other than the colouring, he looks just like my Zane. I'd snap him up in an instant if Zane wasn't so selfish when it comes to toys, kongs, food etc.

Good luck Butch - you deserve thebest and I knwo you'll find your forever home soon.
