Watch those play pens

A very dear friend of mine had a play pen up (one of those that you put new mum and pups in) and one of her dogs jumped in there while she was mopping the floor.
He is very agile and has jumped in and out of this for a few years.
This time however as he jumped out he caught his penis in one of the little runs on the pen and ripped everything off by the shaft. This was a week ago and it was touch and go if he would live or not. He has now had re-constructive surgery and there is hardly anything left to have a little wee wtih. Not sure if he is going to be OK or not.
So any of you that breed puppies and use one of those puppy pens please be very careful.

Baby steps at a time at the moment day by day I guess and its early days yet. The only good news is that he has eaten and drank something in the last few days and is managing to wee a little It all depends now on how the healing goes on. Prayers and good wishes are needed many thanks.

oooooooooh poor little chap. Got everything crossed here that he fully recovers. Such a terrible shame, and through no fault of the owners. Good idea posting up about this too, just in case. Poor little man

Poor little chap, I use a Croft Freedom pen....actually have two, so join them together, definitely no sharp bits on those.

Hope he makes a quick recovery.

http://www.thedoginn.com/puppy_play_pens/

this is one of the play pens
the little one got caught where the panels come together just above the hinge. A freak accident but one that could happen to anyone. Lagging pipes that plumbers use would be useful to cover this part up as there were no sharp bits anywhere, and these pens are used by a lot of breeders. It only takes one though to cause an accident I am afrain.
