Need a bit more info....When and why is the dog getting excited. What behaviour is the dog showing that makes you want to use something. What training have you done to try and calm it?

A supplement is not always the best way to go forwards as you can mask why the behaviour is happening and stress the dog in other ways.

Bach Rescue Remedy is good as is Skullcap and Valerian or Valerian on its own.

All have worked for me and my dogs.

These will do no harm and might help in stressful situations.

Hi Archer I agree with Tassle, I would first want to look at the situations that lead up to the excited behaviour, also the kind of food the dog is fed to make sure it isn't full of unnecessary additives.

I agree you need to look at what makes your dog excitable.
I have a very nervous dog and have been trying several out, Rock rose, Aspen and impatiens plus rescue remedy just before an event that scares him. I was asking at Crufts yesterday and the ones recommended were Skull cap and Valerian and Valerian liquid just before a show etc.
I bought some to try as they seem to have better results than the bach remedies.

what food is your dog fed on? If they are on bakers, pedigree or eukanuba that could well be the cause...foods like that are full of rubbish and can cause hyperactiveness.

The protein thing is a myth. Excitability problems are usually behavioural.
