Just been to an Obedience Show

..... to meet my breeder and Zena's sisters and Mum, and my breeder couldn't stop telling me how beautiful Zena was now (another year on), and how amazing her long coat looks compared to her sister (the one she has called Roxy), and then she told me she's a teeny weeny bit overweight

She showed me Zena's mum, and I told her Zena had been like that about a month ago, but to me, that was far too thin, so I upped the food again, but maybe she's right, so I'll stop a few of the treats. I did get a bit generous with her treats because she was so lean, but I'm going to have to stop that now!
Norty mummy!

Anyway, we walked around with them both, we watched some of the classes, met lots of peops she knew, with lots of dogs Zena didn't know, and she behaved impeccably, greeting everyone with her kisses and playing with all the dogs, not one bark was heard (thank God, coz she can be a bit gobby with dogs who give her the attitude! lol!)

We let them off in a big open field where she was parked, and to see Zena running around with her sister was just fantastic coz I don't think Zena has ever played with another gsd, we rarely meet any on our walks, and the ones we do, aren't particularly playful! I stayed about an hour and a half, and had a fantastic time, so glad I went, and it was all good socialisation for Zena who never goes to dog shows, so a nice bit of practice for when we arrive at Crufts next year for our agility!!!! Yeah right, I'm joking of course!!!!

OH what a fab day I've had with my little furbaby, and now she's asleep at my feet!

That's a big no-no Karen, I had to put Zena in the car before she could let mum out otherwise fur would have been flying! How strange is that then? Mum was fine until she copped sight of Zena peering out of the car window, then she went manic at her!! You have a similar problem don't you?

You would have loved it at this show, all those beautiful longcoated shepherds, I've never seen so many in one field! Loads of collies of course, it was an obedience show, but the shepherds were all longcoats, and all like Bailey apart from Zena's other sister and auntie, they were more black, but all so beautiful. I saw two other longcoats she pointed out to me who had the same dad as Zena, stunning, quite stunning.

I met my old trainer there too, and managed to have a chat with Zena peering at her out of the back window, and I worried that she might remember her and bark, but thankfully she didn't!

Glad you have had a nice day with her. We're very lucky that Esme's mum and sister only live about half an hour away so we can meet up and they can have a good play!

Felix wasn't impressed when he met his little brother, its the only dog he's ever growled at

Well you seem lucky that Esme's mum gets on with her? Maybe because Esme is still relatively young, it could be a different story when she's out of the puppy stage I wonder? My breeder said it's quite normal for a mum not to take to her sibblings when they're older, but it's also something I never realised before! She was ok with Zena last July when I took her to this same show though, but not anymore she isn't!

In fact, I'd go so far as to say Zena didn't actually KNOW who they all were when we met up last year, but this year, she knew instantly as she met each one! Yes, it really was lovely to watch the pair of them running around, Zena was certainly very happy!

Sounds like you both had a good time. It's great to see shepherds running together. We have a few playful ones living nearby.

Thanks talassie, I wish I did, we don't have any playful ones around here. When I looked at the pair of them running and playing, it made me realise just how big Zena has grown, she's quite taller and wider than her sister and it was great to watch her having such fun, they looked good together! Hmmmmmmm...... noooooooooooo

It was at Worthing Rugby Club Vicki, not a run of the mill show, an actual obedience one, I don't know what WE were doing there I think it was the Open Show of the Findon Downs Dog Training Club where I went before.

Unfortunately, as I dashed out when she rang me, I forgot the camera didn't I I took it last year and took lots of pics if you remember, but this year, when it would have been nice to see them together playing like that, I forgot it!

We saw someone with about 8 GSDs on the park the other day, unusual sight. I expect they were breeders.

We have only once seen another Kerry Blue for Parker and Cherry to meet and they were all so shocked at the sight that they wouldn't stop wuffing at each other!
