Are you serious? so a mongrel with bad hips and a dodgy heart crossed with a terrier with bad skin and ear infections will end up healthier than two dogs that have been heatlh tested for everything and have a clean bill of health?????

Really, sometimes people show their intelligence when they open their mouths.....

I seriously hope you consider having your girl spayed a.s.a.p

Bullmastiff births can be difficult.

Are the dogs KC registered? Were their parents health tested?

You say you still have the number of your girls previous owner (am assuming this isnt her 'breeder'?) So you are her second home, if she is KC registered she may have breeding restrictions on her pedigree (that you wont know about) and if your parents dog is KC reg you wouldnt be able to register them anyway (happy to be corrected if this is not the case)

You say the ONLY reason to breed her was to avoid phantom pregnancys? Id personally take her to the vet get the 'morning after' jab (my friends first bullie had this after dropping her knickers for a local lothario!) And get her spayed when the vet deems it suitable.

Unless you have other reasons for breeding her?

If so I would have the 'morning' after jab then get all her health checks done, do your homework and choose a health tested stud that will complement your bitch and potentially 'improve' any offspring assuming her health checks are clear.

that is not what iam saying iam not some back yard breeder! iam not saying let any 2 dogs breed please dont take what iam saying out of context i mean to healthy dogs of different breeds can have perfectly health pups that are less prone to some problems that the parent breeds may have

Other wise iam pretty sure she was only asking advice and is now pretty panicked. She may not no much but iam very dissapointed in the way people reacted we all love our dogs and maybecome scared when we hear of people potentially doing something stupid but imagine if you had asked that question and those were the replies you got
This is one reason why the rescue centres are full up, and why so many healthy dogs are put to sleep each week.

We do not need hapless people to breed dogs, we need experienced people who know what they are doing so that all puppies have the best possible chance of living a long and happy life with one owner.

Many breeds have inherrent health problems, especially large breeds, crossing two unknown dogs can actually intensify these problems.

Why not take a trip to Battersea, or another rescue organisation, take a look at the hundreds of unwanted Bull Breeds, puppies included.

but such things are not achieved, from unplanned matings, where no health tests have been done..with no responsible reason for breeding .

Before even contemplating breeding from a bitch or dog it is very important to consider why you want to breed & firstly it should always be to improve the breed.

Then you have to consider whether or not you have the room & experience to keep the puppies until the right homes for all of the puppies(with the exception of any you intend to keep)are found. You then have to consider do you have the room & money to take back any of the puppies at any stage in their lives should their new owners no longer want them for whatever reason.

Then all the health tests available should be done on both dog & bitch, after studying the pedigrees of both to ensure that no bad health or character traits are being bred to.

Then the money side kicks in. before breeding a litter you really need to have at least £1,500(if not more)available for vets fees, then sufficient extra money to feed the bitch & puppies, worm them, buy/make a sensible whelping box, have room to house the bitch & puppies away from the rest of the household for at least 2 weeks & have the time & energy to devote yourself totally to the bitch & the puppies for at least 4 weeks.

Then how do you choose people to have your puppies, you might have up to 14/15 puppies to find homes for as Bullmastiffs, like all large breeds, can have very large litters.

If the answer to any of these is no then you should get your bitch to the vets asap, have her given the injection to abort the litter(which will bring her back into season BTW)& then keep her away from all male dogs & then have her spayed in 3 months time.

This is the only sensible & caring course of action for your bitch.
i agree with what your sayin 100% letting your dog breed is a big responsibility
