Some dogs do have them on the hind legs. They are considered vestigal - remnants from a time long past - and are of no use to the dog at all. (Front ones do serve a purpose) Rear dewclaws tend to cause problems in active dogs as they will get hung on things and rip and tear causing pain, infection, etc. Are Mikey's attached by bone or floppy?

Briards have double dew claws on there hind legs, they are there to help them climb over rocks when guiding sheep in the mountains.
