Last Pictures Of Barney. RIP

Its two weeks today since I finally let my Barney go, after spending 15 brilliant years together as my closest and dearest companion there isnt a moment of the day I dont think of him. I feel him all around me still and feel comfort to think he is still walking by my side or as Barney used to do run at 10 million miles an hour back & forth or jumping over your head, before the cancer stole his leg away.

Waiting for me to come to bed on his last night, the cut on his head was off him falling down the steps outside a few days earlier as his remaining back leg was starting to let him down.

This is his last night tucked up cosy in bed:-

I woke early on the 21st April his last day and took a cup of tea back to bed as he didnt wake with me, we lay there together till he woke, this is him still asleep, bless:-

Fate had looked down on us this final day, this picture I took on his final walk along the river, we bumped into his old girlfriend Chun who we used to go camping with, they were the best of pals along with Penny, (dogwebber Toby) Janets Jack Russell who died a few years ago. We havent seen Chun for over 7 years so it was a remarkable moment for us all, as they both remembered each other, you can see how perky he looks!

His final photograph, an hour later he was gone

Im showing this as its special to me. I hope it doesnt upset anyone. He had a bunch of flowers, his old name tag and the kids had drawn a memory of pictures for him & to show him where Rainbow Bridge was. Bless them.

His final bed which Phil made for him very nicely done I think:-

How intuitive animals are, they all came and stayed next to his box for ages after. Poppy the cat is 16 years old and didnt leave the place the box had been after it was taken away for days after, she stared intently at the box the whole time. Barney & Poppy grew up together and now she is very sick poor girl.

This is the sunset taken from 'Barney's Balcony'. Built just so we can sit with him and enjoy his lovely views.

A celebration of life not to be sad anymore, this is taken on his balcony:-

Thankyou to everyone who posted lovely messages to me & Barney they all meant the world to me.
I have to give a very special bit of extra love to Dani, Janet & Marie for the lovely Tribute to Barney thread you did! I go back and watch it often. xxxxxx
I replied to everyone who sent me a message on 'Barneys going downhill' thread after I left for taking time with Barney as I felt you had given so much support you all deserved a special mention.

ohh Laura, what can I say?

Thank you for sharing Barneys last pictures with us which make me get tears yet smile and then get more tears.

On his walk, i'm so glad you guys bumped into one of his old long lost friends

The sunset was gorgeous.

With the last picture, I'm so glad you can try to be positive that's what Barney would want bless him.

Barney was such a sweet, gorgeous boy.

...Still thinking of Barney who will have used his little picture of where rainbow bridge is to show him the way

...Still thinking of you too.

Take care

xx

Awwww Laura, everything looks wonderful, but I must admit I viewed the last few pics with cloudy vision. I don't know why, but Barney took a little piece of my heart too with him when he left us. That 2nd pic of him, he looks so peaceful all tucked up there and I know how much he loved to be tucked up in your bed. What an uncanny thing to happen too, that he saw his old girlfriend who he hadn't seen for 7 years before he left, life is strange sometimes. I'm sure animals know things we don't, and they knew he was going somewhere nicer to live when they were sitting around his box, but they also knew how much they would miss him. What a magnificent way you will have to cherish every moment you shared with Barney, I envy you that. You have been very brave to give us this insight into Barney's last moments, which no doggy could have wished for better, and ending in that wonderful sunset of his life. Your love for Barney will never die all the time you have these wonderful memories and rememberances of him, and take solice in the belief that you will meet again one day, he will never forget you Luz and will be there waiting for you, but he'll always be with you in Spirit for the rest of your life, and wouldn't want you to be sad now that he's happy once more now that he's found eternity. You are one admirable girl you know, so take care of yourself. x
