Thankyou everyone,
I am going to try and keep him as comfortable as possible today and ring my vet in the morning as I want to take him there when its quiet not be hanging around in a waiting room full of people waiting for my turn to do this to my lad. Also I won't have to stand there eplaining why I want to put him to sleep.
Mentioning giving him treats I don't suppose it will do any harm now and because he has had so many problems he hasn't had anything but his food for so long so I think I will buy him a nice little chew stick to take his mind off of everything.
Now I must ring my daughter who is away till tomorrow as she will want me to go and collect her and bring her home today to spend some time with him. She is going to be devastated and inconsolable I know.

my heart is breaking for you and little milo. god knows so many of us have had to make this decision and will have too again in the future.

stay strong for your little man. make today yours and his and i promise you that one day you will look back and treasure this memory. i know i do when i think of my last day with my dear lurcher. i fed him all the forbidden things and i cuddled him all day. he was full, happy and in my arms when he passed away.

it's a true blessing when we get the chance to do that.

xxx

Aw Bev I am finding it really hard reading this thread ..
Milo has been such a stoic little chap and gone through so much in recent months, and I can guess how much it has cost you in emotional terms worrying about him constantly and taking him to various vets and specialists.

The arching back could be a number of things and coupled with the shaking I would say he is in pain.

What would I do today? Don't allow him to try to jump up, better to sit on the floor with him / give him his medication/ keep him nice and warm with a hot water bottle wrapped in a towel and put beside him in his bed / let him sleep, then see how he is in the morning.

I can imagine how you are feeling if it helps have a good cry. We are all here if you need us (hug) x

Just want to give you some ((((((((((hugs)))))))) Bev, it's not easy, but both you and your vet will know by tomorrow. I didn't like the curling up in the ball syndrome with your last thread, and I cannot believe this poor boy has been through so much and yet he's only 4 years old! As heartbreaking as it will be for you, you must go to the vet tomorrow knowing it could be your very last visit, and listen to what your kind vet suggests, but if he's already on Rimadyl, then I'm sure there is nothing else they can offer to help the poor boy out. My heart breaks for you Bev, I'm so very sorry, spoil his rotten today and give him anything he'll eat. Be bravexxxxxxxxx
