why breed or buy when others die? (breeding/buying pups vs rescue dogs)

sorry i am new to this site but see from a few of the posted messages that quite a few of you seem to breed you pets, i have a rescue dog a labrador who was rescued from death row in a pound at only eight weeks old, have any of you ever considered the plight of these poor animals which you breed from ??

you may see me as coming across as being rude but only knowing he disturbing and very upsetting rescue side of the animal world i would be interested into an insight into why people still breed when there are so may animals suffering and in need out there already

regards

lynne

Hiya Lynne.

I have two rescued staffords and love them to bits. They have become a great part of the family

Hi Lynne

Here in Denmark we dont have that many rescue centers. I was written up to a dog many years ago, but as a lot of the dogs there is there because they cant be alone home, the center has as a demand, that you as an adoptee isnt away more than 6 hours a day. I cant fullfill that demand, so have no hope of getting a rescue dog.

If I were to breed on Luna, it would only be one litter, and only because I want to keep a puppy myself!

it means that some people seem to breed the dogs just to pass them onto someone else who has shown an interest for a sometimes large sum of money where as with my child it is diffrent i look after her myself not pass her onto someone else

This year 105,349 Dogs were found straying by local authorities.
9,989 were destroyed through no fault of there own.
This number is only through local authorities, thousands of other healthy dogs are destroyed due to lack of a home by other welfare organisation, vets etc.

Azzzzzzzz!!!!!!!!

Quick Heated Debates with this one!!!

*staffy dives for cover*

J I think she meant that children are not like puppies who are taken 'because they look cute' and then the novelty wears off and they are abandoned.
