Group Walking in Fife?
Hi all,
I was wondering if any Fifers on here currently participate in or would like to do some group walking, either on a regular basis or just every now-and-then?
As well as group walking being good for socialising both our dogs and ourselves, I would like a group walk which would also enable us to help each other with training and improving our dog's etiquette.
My Cora is 6 months old, has been to basic puppy training, and socialises well with our relatives and our neighbours dogs. I try to keep my training ongoing with her, though our next training classes doesn't start back until February unfortunately.
At the moment, when she is on-leash she does have a habit of barking at some un-introduced dogs passing several feet away who do not stop to say hello. This, and pulling on the leash, is something I am working on with her every day, and would love the help of others who may be able to practice/provide "distractions" to aid training. During training classes she tends to be very well behaved and responsive to commands, but when out and about she is easily distracted, and I sometimes have a difficult time regaining her focus. That said, however, she does have good recall when off-leash and at a distance. When we walk with friends or family and their dogs too, she falls into line very quickly as she loves being part of a group.
If you are interested, or know of a local walking group I should get in touch with, please let me know.
