Hip & Eye scores ?!?!

Hi,

Im going to look at a puppy next week, and yes its a classic-tri colour Beagle

Can someone tell me how eye and hip scores work? I think hip scores are like the lower the number and the closer the number the better it is? how does eye scores work?

Hips...lower the better and more even the better eg 2/3 is better than 0/5
You will get a left and right score and then a totel....r=2,l=3,total 5

Eyes should be 'unaffected'

EDIT: ive been looking after a family members cat past 2 months, so i have to give it back before i get the puppy, my mums kinda got attached to the cat too but its been mostly a good thing its give me a picture of what it will be like looking after an animal. Which is having a dog/puppy is 100 times more work and effort.

As of the 1th of Jan last year very few Beagles had been scored, 20 to be exact and the breed mean was 23 and at least one animal was 60, so not good and one would expect that more breeders would go to the trouble of scoring. Eyes, Beagles appear on the C schedule for Multifocal retinal dysplasia MRD
