Anal glands

hi has anyone had there dogs anal glands flushed our milly 9 month old border terrier had it done 2 weeks ago infection has come back so she's booked in again this week to get them done again

the stool she passes isn't hard enough to clean out the anal glands, give her some powdered bone meal, she is not getting enough bone in her diet. Make sure you get the one made for animals as they also make one for plants. Its a trial and error thing, to much will give her loose stools and to much will make the stools to hard. Give her enough so her stools look like tootsie rolls.

You can also increase her fiber intake, either plain pumpkin or a fiber additive.

My dogs had problems with her glands becoming infected.

I give her a piece of carrot every day to prevent a re-occurrence . I also add a little weetabix to her wet food sometimes,

Same thing happened to our old boxer. We took her to the vet and in the end, she helped her flush them and the vet said that they should return to normal, which they did.

We had problems about once a year. Our vet recommended grain free food. Haven't had a problem since. Might have been a coincidence.
