Kc is kennel club - the official breed club in the UK. This is a UK forum hence its what most people will refer to. However wedo have plenty of international members too! I think akc is the american kennel club (the US equivalent of our kc).

The KC, is the UK kennel club, as you have the US kennel club.

In my breeds:-

KC (Kennel Club) Registered for my German Shepherds.
ISDS (International Sheep Dog Society) for my Border Collies.

However, if I knew the breeder and knew the lines which the pup had come from, I wouldn't be overly concerned if the pups weren't registered.

Not overly fussed if they werent registered, none of my current dogs are. However, future gundogs would have to be KC registered in order for me to compete in GWT's and FT's (I wish on the latter!)

I wouldn't buy an unreg dog .... As I'd be very wary about why it wasn't registered ..

It costs very little to register and the main reasons people don't register seem to be ...

Parents aren't reg (so what proof of them being purebred?)
Pups can't be registered as parents have not for breeding endorsements which are placed for a reason
Breeder over breeds the bitches so KC will not register them

I see very few unreg litters where the parents are health tested too

If a dog is a specific breed type, I would never buy unregistered, and I would only buy from a good breeder, and none of those I know of charge extra for KC registration. If I was going to get a cross breed or mutt, I'd rescue, and pay them the fee rather than go to a *breeder*, there are too few who care about what they are doing and why to support them myself.
