2pm today..... (Updated @ post 40)

Please think of me.
I have to go and see a specialist about my hip.
Although I don't want to, I think I am heading for a hip replacement. I am getting a bit nervous but I suppose if it means I get rid of some of this pain it will be worth it.
I will be back this evening and I will tell you how I got on then.

Good luck Nippy.

I can imagine the thought scarey - it is a big op, but personally one that I think is so worth it - I've known several people have it done (usually both hips, though not at the same time) and they have all said how much better things are afterwards....a new lease of life.

hope your consultation goes well xx

Good luck! Hope it goes well. I've had family members who have had them as welland it improved their way of life so much.

Look forward to hearing how you got on later.

Thank you both so much.
I know it's nothing in this day and age but I get myself worked up into a state.

Totally agree
Having worked in orthopedics, it always amazed me how quickly they were up and about post op, even the wee old ladies.

Hope it all goes well today and try not to get too stressed xxx

Our Sil is having her second one done any day now and is welcoming it with open arms, as the one she has already had done is now as good as perfect.

Hey Nippy,

Good luck with your consultation. Make sure you go armed with a list of questions.

I found out yesterday I need a full knee replacement (left knee) at 35 so I know how you feel.

You'll be absolutely fine no matter what your consultant says. And remember, it's your hip. He can't do anything without your sonsent so if you're not 100% happy about something, then ask him about it - whatever it is.
When it gets to the stage of replacing joints, it's usually down to quality of life. If your quality of life will be improved by having the surgery, then go for it.

Thinking of you.

Laura xx
