Bones from birds - can they be given to dogs or not?

Hi i have always all my life been told that you never feed a dog chicken/turkey etc bones, they can have the meat but never the bones, now i have been reading a few posts which have said people have given bird bones and also i have seen a pic of a dog eating a full birds leg????????????? what is true can they eat birds bones or is it a big no no????????????????

some feed raw bones some choose not to, mine never have bird bones like chicken carcass they have lamb bones and necks and also beef bones

You missed out the most important word in the original post..

COOKED..

NEVER FEED COOKED CHICKEN BONES

Raw is fine.. IF you choose to do so..

Seiko loves chicken wings and has never so far had a problem with them

No, i didnt miss it out as i was just putting what i had been told, which was never give bird bones t o a dog. thanks love rach xx

Yes I grew up the same way..

Never to let the dog get the chicken bones.. when I first looked into BARF I was horrified that others were feeding chicken bones.. but I had the raw/cooked thing pointed out to me and it makes sense.

Cooked bones are more brittle and will shatter.. Raw bones won't they are bendable
