Food for weight gain?

Hi all

I am trying to get a bit of weight on Diesel, he's always been very lean and increasing the size of his meals does not help as he just wont eat it, I have heard Burns is a good food for weight gain, I feed raw but am happy to add a little something extra if it will help him to gain some weight.

Any ideas?

I have heard the exact opposite for Burns, some dogs struggle to get weight on with it. What do you feed him now and what breed and size is he?

Hi, Pearl is a little underweight, i have been adding tripe to her meals but doesnt put much weight on her, i have started making satin balls, which she loves and add weight very quickly the recipe is

Ingredients

10 pounds hamburger meat [the cheapest kind]
1 lg. box of Total cereal [or comparable natural brand]
1 lg. box oatmeal
1 jar of wheat germ
1 1/4 cup veg oil
1 1/4 cup of unsulfured molasses
10 raw eggs
10 envelopes of unflavored gelatin
pinch of salt

Mix all ingredients together, much like you would a meatloaf.

Divide into 10 quart freezer bags and freeze.

Thaw as needed.

OR

Here's the recipe I use quite often:
Fat Balls
WEIGHT GAIN

1 lb hamburger
1 package cream cheese
1 dozen egg yolks
1 jar all natural peanut butter
about 1 cup rolled oats
1 jar wheat germ

Mix up, measure out, feed as needed. You'll need to mix it
with
your hands. It's hard to mix and messy. I usually make this
with
more hamburger (like, 2 or 3lbs) and freeze what I'm not
using
that day or the
next.

Got this from a Newf forum

I have much the same problem with Rio. She's often looking skinny, and just isn't a food motivated dog. She also has raw, but I found that she doesn't keep weight on on a raw diet, so I add some dry dog food too. She has Harringtons at the moment. I give her fatty mince with it and she keeps the weight on a bit better.

How old is Diesel? I'm hoping Rio will fill out when she matures, as she is only 17 months old.

I tried both of these recipes with Rio and the fussy sod wouldn't touch them

It can be hard to keep the weight ON them with Burns, try Arden Grange..or even Naturediet if you feed raw?
