Miscarriage/abortion

As you all know my girl was mated just over 3 weeks ago. Although she still had a brown discharge things seemed to be going well. Her belly grew really quickly and her boobs/nipples were huge.

Sadly yesterday, she aborted a pup and has since had a red sticky discharge. Have spoken to my vet and she said she may be aborting a few to make room for the rest as it seemed she had a large litter. The stud dog last sired a litter of 12, with 9 surviving, which is an enormous litter for a cocker spaniel.

Has this happened to anybody else and did their girl go on to have a litter afterwards.

Thanks from a very depressed and worried Sharon

Just an update:

Sadly my girl has aborted a total of 6 pups, so I think I can say she won't be having pups this time :smt022 We have to take her to the vet on Monday, hopefully she will have finished by then, just to get her scanned to confirm she is empty and start her on a strong course of anti-biotics.

Thank you all for your kind words of support

Sharon
