Itchy dog

My retriever is so itchy. There are no parasites or sores on his skin. Had him to the vet who suggested a food allergy. Gluten free food worked for a while but now he is back to square one. Also tried rock sulphur in his water, omega oil and a low protein food but to no avail. Anyone had any similiar probs and know of a remedy before i go back to the vet?

Poor doggy! James Wellbeloved are hypo-allergenic, so you might want to try their food. Also Cod liver oil may help. Hope you find a solution soon.

Harvest mite are active at this time of the year, very itchy and don't look like other guests so may have been missed.

Tell tale sign is little red dot on skin.

Has the vet run skin and blood tests? My Deacon was really itchy and they kept putting him on steroids, until I asked to see a specialist and he had the tests and food trials... turned out he has a severe allergy to just house dust mites... he is coming to the end of his immunotherapy course.
It may not be that of course, but if it continues I would ask for tests. He could also be allergic to storage mites/grass pollen, it depends if he is allergic all the time or just certain times of the year...
