Treats

Hi, I have an 8 week old westie pup (boy), I want to start his training and want to give him treats when he has done what I teach him, So advice on what is the best and safest treat for a puppy, Thanks in advance, Mike

Instead of treats, why not feed him his meals during training?

That way you are giving him all he needs and not risking him getting fat and making him work for his food.

There is no reason why meals have to be in bowls.............

Just measure out the daily ration, and use it during the day in 3 min training sessions (use an egg timer or similar).

10 x 3 min training sessions are more useful than 1 x 30 minute one

^^ you can use his food, I also liked to add something a little smelly to a bag of dry food - like puppy sausage - or chicken or a tiny bit of cheese - it makes the kibble smell better - and then if he does something really good he can get the extra nice treat

Great idea to use his food. Another cheap, tasty and healthy thing you can add is tiny.pieces of heart and liver, baked in the oven. My two go crazy for them!
