Why dog don't bark?

Hi,
I wonder why my friend's Shih Tzu never bark? :smt017 Even he's with a stranger, I never heard he bark.
I think he might like this song "Silent Night" , he's a silent dog... :smt003

Warmest regards
Amelia

Kingsley barks when someone knocks on the door, or when he wants to go out to the toilet.
Teagan only barks when someone knocks at the door (which isn't very often!!)
She just pee's on the floor rather than let me know.

Storm very rarely barks. The only time she gets vocal is when she wants a treat, or needs to be let out.

Shaan on the other hand, will bark at his own shadow

Has he ever been reprimanded for barking? Some dogs are just not very vocal, except in emergencies. Your friend should count her blessings if he is a naturally quiet dog.

Our Dalmation Bailey ( we lost him last year due to cancer ) hardly ever barked and if he did it used to make him jump! He wasn,t a nervous dog and loved people and was never bothered by strangers. He thought that he was a cocker spaniel though apart from the barking, my cockers made up for that!
