Red Berries... can they cause upset stomachs?

Sorry I'm not sure what they are called coz I'm not very well versed in these things, but ya know those little red berries you find lying around the base of trees? Jake and Charlie have taken to scoffing them when we are out on our walks. I try to keep them away from them but as you can imagine they are everywhere so it's easier said than done. I don't think they are doing any harm but just wondered if they potentially could upset their stomach?

Hmmmm, depends on what sort of trees they are. If you could identify.... a photo maybe, then you can look up if the berries are ok for dogs. A few that spring to mind -

Rowan aka mountain ash
Holly
Hawthorn

Could be rowan... not sure... I'll take more notice next time I'm there. Like I said, don't think it's doing/done them any harm but better safe than sorry and find out.. Thanks

If it's Rowan, mine try and eat them. I stop them just because I don't want them eating them but I don't think they are poisonous as we can eat them. I have made some delicious Rowan Schnapps and Rowan Jelly as there were so many.

They sound like Rowan berries and they are not poisonous Helen, dont worry.

There are many Rowan trees where I live and Jess picks up a few on every walk, there harmless.

I'm not sure. I remember as a kid my mums friend lived in a house called "Rowan Villa" and the trees there looked similar to these with the berries... so it prob is that.
Maybe you should send me some Jam to try... just for the dogs benefit ya understand

I do think you are thinking of Roawn tree's Ian, and like I said before they are completely harmless...

What shape and size are the leaves?
