Name this tune!

For some reason an old nursery song has popped into my head but as usual these days, I can only remember bits of it and the rest is a total blank. It was around in the late 1950's, had a simple tune, and was about a character who ... "played upon a ladle ..." ???????? (that was in the chorus I think) .... "and his name was ......." (something of three syllables)
Does ANYONE have the faintest idea what this was? And how the rest of it went?

Def. agree now i cant get it out of my head and it takes me back to the late 50's in infant school sitting cross legged round the piano

Ahhhh, I remember now, I used to hate the name because I had a lot of problems with my ears as a child, and always thought the name was "aching drum"!!!!
