Yes Pete both of mine get there tails trimmed.
They get the underneath shaved. It definitely makes a big difference, Makes the tail more whip like.
I don't do it though, I'm sure they wouldn't thank me if they ended up with bald patches

Pete
we do ours- just use a beard trimmer or the like- get someone to hold Cody still and trim the underneath- as you will find it tends to go *bushy* if not trimmed.

mine all get done ..altho i dont do it i get some1 else to trim them....your best getting them trimmed either week before or few days before show...as i find if you do it at a show it can 1...make new pups who havnt had it done b4 very nervous...then wen judge goes over them they get frightened and think your gonna do tail again...and 2nd...i find if trimmed too close to show...sometimes they tend to walk with tail higher than normal...like if weve had hair cut and makes us feel proud n more confident...dog feels same so strutts around with tail higher lol...hope u know wot i mean.... with pups i do it ages before a show then again wen nearer to show...just to build confidence up in pup getting it done...pete im sure there will be some1 at handling class who will do it for you....ill help you sort it wen see you sunday.....emma once you see a trimmed tail then you will see wot a difference it makes....basil brush turns into a top super model lol....

Pete if you're at Alyn & Deeside show they sometimes have a chap there trimming tails for 50p and proceeds go to Staffy rescue
(if you can wait til, then)

Em- when the tail is raised you will tend to see a *feathery* effect on the underneath of the tail if it needs trimming-
hard to explain but like Jayne says once you compare a trimmed tail to an untrimmed tail you will begin to notice the difference
