Dog Passport...........

Just a query about whats required for taking your dog abroad. Planning on taking Jake touring with me at some point. Anyone done this before and can tell me whats required and were to get it?

I think it takes about 8 months before your dog can go abroad as it has to have various injections and then be tested that the vaccinations are working.

You also have to have him micro chipped. Try "googling" pet passport and you will get loads of info.

We've just had our passport for our toller completed. The defra website in the link gives you all the info, but basically the dog needs, in this order, a microchip, rabies vaccination, blood test (then the passport is issued), then 6 months later another blood test to see if they're still clear of rabies. if the test is clear you can take your dog in and out of the country with no problems

We plan to show and mate our toller abroad which is why we've had it done, and it really was minimum stress for Amber. She didn't like the blood test too much (who does!!) but she didn't make a fuss! If you contact your vet they should be able to organise it all for you.
