Are fish bones dangerous?

I've got the chance of a good fish supply from a mate.
Is there any fish I should avoid and are the bones dangerous?

No to the first and to the second question, nothing in life is risk free.

I have never had a problem in 11 years.

My dog eats whole mackrel raw so that includes bones, plus canned sardines and I've never had a problem (neither has he ) .

i had read somewhere that atlantic salmon were fine but pacific salmon were not due to a parasite, but i might be wrong and not sure you would get supplied with pacific salmon anyway

Pereg had raw sardines for the first time just over a week ago, and happily eats them either defrosted or straight from the freezer, starting from the head! I am hoping to get some different whole fish for her when the fish van next comes round.

Only problem I ever had was when I cut my finger on a salmon tooth

I was told to always freeze raw fish for a couple of weeks before feeding to my dogs, because of a parasite... I dont know if that's just Salmon or any fish, but I tend to err on the side of caution and freeze any and all fish for a couple of weeks... just to be safe

I think you will find most fish come part frozen if they are from a supermarket. Fish and meat if I remember are kept in a large cooler type thing I remember it being very cold and you would have to wear gloves and jacket to go in one!

But if they from a none supermarket source then it might be an idea to freaze them first.
