Odd use of a dog (Warning use of deceased dog)

Mistyblues post on cloning made me think about odd ways of preserving dogs ..

Did anyone see the 'Antiques Road Show' a little while ago?. Someone took in a dried hollowed out Scottish Terrier which had been used as a float for a large fishing net

Apparently using deceased small dogs for this purpose was quite the norm at one time .

.....Good for catfish

Didn't see that one. You would think they could find something else which was easier to 'make' a float from wouldn't you.

It came from Scotland and was very old. I guess it was difficult to find light watertight floats in those days (it had been made watertight I won't go into details ) .

That is bizarre! The oddest I've heard of is having your pets ashes made into jewellery but that's more for sentimental reasons I guess.

That is horrid. To think of a pet ending up as a float! Should have been banned! Never saw the programme - must watch out for a repeat!
