I am really hoping he will come to Layla today.

People who do not own an anxious or nervous dog do not realise how far back it can set them if they try to catch them, they think they are doing you a favour, which is reasonable.
I am glad they are now giving him distance and leaving Layla in control of doing the catching.

Fingers crossed for her and kaos.
