Waking up early

I've never really had trouble sleeping before, but the past couple of weeks I've been waking up earlier and earlier. It's got to a point now where I wake up at exactly 4.55 am and can't get back to sleep.

I stayed in bed until 7.30am yesterday, had a pretty busy day, went to bed about 10.30pm. Woke up at 4.55am on the dot.

I tried to go back to sleep but was wide awake by 5.45am so decided to get up. I've put the washing on, washed up, read my book and painted some origami stars with PVA glue.

It's strange that this has started happening since I've gotten a bit more busy. I'm going to just get up if I can't sleep - maybe I'll get back into my normal sleep pattern then?

My mum usually wakes up at 5am so maybe it runs int he family. Anyone else an early riser (through choice I mean )?

I'm the same as MissE as soon as daylight appears I am up. The only problem with that is I don't go to bed till between midnight and 1am so in the summer I get less sleep.
Also I always wake several times during the night with my back pain as I can't turn over without waking first.

Me too - I'm usually up between 5 and 6. Mind you, yesterday it was 3.......

I love getting up early - it's peaceful and I can sit on the PC quietly for ages...

you can all come & live at mine because Tilly wakes between 5.30 and 6am & I don't wake until 7am. I've even started bringing my pillow down & getting on the sofa for an extra hour - only to have toys thrust in my face!

Sarah, I think you need to reset your alarm clock

Seriously, many people wake up early I always do around 05:30 regardless of when I go to bed.

So long as you're getting your 'normal' amount of sleep (Which of course varies from person to person) then it's not a problem.

That would be a good idea Losos

I'm still not tired - I thought I'd be crashing out about now, but not so afr. Managed to get loads done too. I might start liking getting up this early. It would be different if I HAD to get up early though

I'm having the opposite problem. I can't go to sleep, I lie there for ages, tossing and turning.
Then come morning I'm dead to the world
