Have a look at the BHA.

http://www.britishhorseracing.com/in...807whipuse.pdf

One point:

The whip used by a jockey must meet a specification laid down by the Authority.
This specification has been set in consultation with animal welfare groups.

and;
The Rules reflect the policy of the Authority that the whip can be used in racing
only for safety, correction and encouragement – anything else is unacceptable as far as the sport is concerned.

What else is there? And how far do you take correction and encouragement?

Dawn---you are daft!

I am amazed that you can be so blind as to not see what is written---it was MS who said it WAS jockey club rules you were talking about! Not me-----I asked for the reference from you as I COULDN'T find it in those rules.

I still see no mention of marking and TBH I am now stopping as I should think most are bored stiff by this.

It is enough for me that you are happy to condone whipping if it doesn't mark the horse.

Because something is a 'rule' you don't have to agree with it.

It fits in with your general attitude to animals and their rights----or lack of them.

I am confused as to why you feel it is funny that MS misinterpreted your posts (thinking you were talking about the JC) as well?

I realised you had quoted Mums post (which was in reply to MS) . But as MS was quoting from the JC as well, specifically after you had said it was nothing to do with them, she obviously misunderstood your point as well.
