I know vets do little kits for it, I'd see if your vet has one. Otherwise I've heard of using a clean container of some sort - something rectangular, like a plastic takeaway tub, slipped under the dog as it wees. Remember that a fresh sample is best so try to get one during vet opening hours and run it in as soon as possible.

How about one of those shallow lunchboxes? Or you could cut the sides of a takeaway box down to a few cms then pour it into a sealable container to take to the vets.

If she goes on concrete, slabs etc just have a wad of cotton wool handy,as soon as she pees do a quick mop up with the cotton wool. Its always worked for me.

I have been known to take a large, shallow casserole dish out on my morning walk........ that was for a very longcoated gsd with very thick, fluffy trousers, but a yorkie???? I'd have no chance! Some kind of tin lid you need, but pour boiling water over it first, just to make sure there's nothing "odd" on it that the vet might, well, you know.....

Hope you are successful - some good tips there. I tried to get a urine sample from my BC once but everytime he cocked his leg and I went over to 'collect' he would stop peeing and look at me as if to say "what are you doing?". I never did get one
