best training book!

Hia as i have said i am picking up my new puppy in a few weeks (5 weeks and 6 days ) and i was wondering if anyone had good suggestions for puppy training books? (behaviour, body language, crate training, long line etc)
i have before been offered some brilliant titles from dogsey but cant find the threads i was on or where to start so started fresh!! i have worked long and hard with a behaviourist and learnt alot but really want to start from day 1 this time.

i have learnt by many mistakes with sam and i feel more prepared now! i have brought a crate already, thanks to dogsey (never have used one before!) and wanted to start research now in to best methods for everything........i'm looking to have the best behaved dog in the south! ha ha

just some quick info on taining methods i am looking for i will use no harsh "corrections", no hand will EVER touch any of my dogs and i have a freezer full of liver cake!! a clicker and toys are at the ready!!
Thanks in advance xxx

google Ian Dunbar

also a good idea to enrol in a local puppy class

its a good idea to teach obedience amongst other dogs, as your pup gets invaluable socialization, and its much better to teach obedience skills stuff when you have all the distractions in a class

its called proofing.

you dog needs to learn a sit, etc, in all sorts of busy and varied settings.

try this link:http://www.apdt.co.uk/local_dog_trainers.asp

I'm reading 'How to behave so you dog behaves' just now and just learning about all this positive reinforcements training. Worth a read and for what its worth i'm really enjoying it.

Good luck with the pup!

APDT Teach Yourself Dog Training
Anything by Gwen Bailey who specialises in Puppy training
(also check out www.puppyschool.co.uk as there is some good advice on there too).
Also, yes The Culture Clash by Donaldson
and
Dog Manual by Carolyn Menteith
and a lovely one which puts back the joy in dog ownership and training,
1001 ways to Train the Perfect Dog by Marie Miller and Sarah Fisher (IMO, a "must read" for dog owners!)
