Flash Update - He's going to (probably) be just fine!!!! :)

Nick and I (and of course Flash) had his appointment with the surgeon/specialist yesterday at the University and we got back some reassuring news. Flash has what is commonly found in Beagles Degenerative Disc Disease. It is most commonly, in Beagles, found in their neck, typically where Flash's problem is located. The best, and basically the only way to fix him is to have surgery, which he is having today. The Dr. says he does this type of surgery all of the time and that it is smooth and routine, and that as of late he has NEVER had a beagle come back with a recurrence. Whew! Not that we are out of the dark here, because with surgery there is always chance of complications. They will do an MRI today to see the entire spine to make sure there isn't mroe damage along his spine. If there is severe damage, the dr isn't so sure they will be able to fix it, and in that case the we put him down. BUT! That is worst case scenario.

So, today is the day our little dooger face gets his surgery and hopefully gets all fixed up so that he can steal food from our hands, and dig in the trash while we're away again! Oh, I look forward to those nights coming home with trash strewn about our home. Perhaps we will take it a littler easier on him from now on. After all, we caught a glimpse of what it would be like without our mischievous and adventurous little beagle. <3
