Shows and Ringcraft

Hi,

I am based in Fife in Scotland. I am looking for an ringcraft class in the surrounding area- will travel so the lothians, falkirk, north lanarkshire would aslo be fine. Can anyone advise me on any local clubs? I also would like to start going to more shows etc, how do people get the dates, times venues for such shows? any advice would be brilliant.

Thanks
Kelly

Contact the Kennel Club for ringcraft classes in your area. Also a lost of the open show clubs run a ringclass, so try them.
In terms of finding shows, you can look on highampress fossedata and prodogs. The dog papers have them in each week but it's an expensive way to find shows alone. If you look on the Kennel Club website they put a pdf up of all shows as well.

Hi, I put a list of shows coming up on the following two threads, first one is March shows and the second is April ones, will be adding a May one once I've got a few schedules for May ones

Once you start showing you will be able to pick the schedules up at shows for any that are happening within the next 2/3 months usually. They are usually sitting on a table near the entrance

I know of a site with a list of ringcraft classes, but will have to look it up first, I haven't been to any yet so can't recommend any of them, but will find and post the link tomorrow

Hi Jackie, He is shown open shows, and he has been to 2 champ shows, just the same as most show dogs, Shona helped us on how to stand him and show him.

But you don't have to go to an actual ringcraft class to show your dog, by actual I mean one that is on for 1-2 hours and is just ringcraft. You just need to practise in the house and on walks etc. Also we use open shows as practise/training, for example currently he is acting up a little in the ring, by this I mean trying to kiss the judge instead of standing still for the judge to go over him, but with each show we go to it gets better. So he should be standing still and letting the judge go over him without trying to kiss by May(first champ show up here)

Megan xx
