Harness and Coat

Pippa has a lovely fleece lined harness now, but as it is fairly chunky I am at a loss now as to what do to when she needs to wear a coat. Harness under or over? If over I might need to order a larger size one, of under then ill need to get them to add another D ring as the one that comes on the harness is too far down her back to reach it with the lead when she has a coat on. Argh!

We cut a small slit and sewed it like a big button hole so Duncan and Mollie can wear their coats with their harnesses underneath. Some companies I am told will do that when you order a coat not sure which ones though.

I was in a similar dilemma with Chloe my tiny Tibbie girl but decided she was more comfortable wearing her harness under her coat. Like you though the ring for attaching the harness/lead was in the wrong place. Luckily I have a sewing machine with a buttonhole attachment and was able to mark and make a new opening.

I had this problem, so bought a collar for when she wears her overalls Is that possible if you don't want to slit the coat?

I just put their coats on under their harnesses, I just adjust the chest strap a little. Mine have Julius k9/Doxlock harnesses though.

Thanks for that I might cut slits in the coats when im feeling brave enough. Or take them round to my mum's and get her to do it! Hehe. I might ask for a D ring higher up next time I order one just for these occasions. Pippa wears a collar anyway (harness just for walking) but I don't like to use the collar with the lead for any length of time. She's only tiny and I worry she'll do herself an injury.

We get our coats from kitsch collars and they have a zip hole for the lead to go through and attach to the harness.
