How did you choose your dogs names?

Or did they just fall into place?

Sweep was named after the character in sooty and co

i've known people to name a french breed a french name etc, so how did you chose yours?

We got Taffy from a farm in Wales so the farmer who's cottage we were staying in said he has to have a welsh name - What about Taffy.

With difficulty Emma I have know so many dogs over the yeras both in the kennels in which I worked and my own dogs I have almost run out of names

Charly thought of Kyiro as she liked the name of the place Cairo but didn't like the spelling, so she changed the spelling and thats how he got his name.
Lily got her name as she looks like a Tiger so Charly named her Tiger Lily.
Charly also named our little tricolour CKCS that we had when she was little. She called him Chocky as she said he was made of dark, milk and white chocolate

I used to work in a care home and looked after an elderly lady i fell in love with, her name was Margaret so we named Maggie after her, shortened it down of course

Those I've named myself have place names, Sydney, Rio, Milan, Tucson and Phoenix. Milan was a rehome originally called Miel but not only did she not seem to recognise it, I couldn't pronounce it properly and it sounded like Meow Diesel and Frankie both answered to their names when I took them on so the names stayed.
Previously I had a Dudley, Shannon and Tyler all place names. It's a theme I'll stick with.

Gypsy name was easy, she is very dark and to me looked like a Gypsy,.
Maggie was name after a very good friend of mine..

My poodle is a silver miniature and my son lives in NZ .
So we called her Fern as the silver fern is the emblem of NZ .

Evie because we liked the name .

Lottie because she has lots of spots .

Mabel because it means loveable and she is

I called our Staffie Poppy,because I love poppy's and the colour red,I have many red poppy's in my garden...

Gelert.....because I love the story of the brave wolfhound , Gelert,who saved the prince's baby son. (Year 5 literacy a few years ago)
