My dog is still acting strangely. He just stands beside my chair as I am working (I am a medical transcriptionist at home) and intermittently will lay down just to stand up again. I have let him out to do his business more frequently than usual and he still does this. Once again I find myself hoping I am overreacting. Thanks for listening.

It could be the start of canine cognitive disorder, my prt used to go outside and turn around and come straight back in again. It's treatable these days so a trip to the vet to gt him examined is a good idea if it's still going on.

That's what I am afraid of. Do you know how they find out? Do they do a bunch of tests and rule other things out or is it a sure thing once he is examined? Thanks for any info. He is not getting any younger and will be 10 at the end of January.

I think it's a process of elimination tbh, they'll probably take bloods and urine to rule out other things but they generally base it on your description of his symptoms. Starting treatment early will give him longer.

If it is ccd then I gave my elderly Collie conium mac 30c It is a homeopathic remedey for restlessness and confusion in the older dog. I can only say try it and see.

Thank you all for being so supportive and not telling me its in my head as I am always second guessing. Bottom line is I know my dog and he is not acting right...

I'd go to the vet with him and get him checked out for sure. Good luck

Hey all. Update here. We took Copper to his annual appointment. The vet said the change in his behavior is due to the changes in his eyes. He has changes that would be expected of an older dog (I forgot what she called it). So, she does not think he has CCD which is very good news. We have to watch his eyes closely as he could go blind. In familiar surroundings he will do fine. I apologize for the delay in updating. I'm just glad my boy is ok.

The term for what is going on with Copper's eyes is bilateral sclerotic lenses. Thought I would give you all a term. Have a great day!
