Trying to cut Nigredos claws...

So as some of you may remember, some PetSmart employees traumatized Nigredo by cutting into the quick of his nails and hurting him. He refused to let a nail clipper near him for quite some time. I've waited ages and decided to try again. Here's the result. He certainly didn't like it, but he grudgingly let me clip them. I'm actually proud of him.

Thanks, you guys. He thought about trying to run away... which I'd have let him if he really, really pressed it, but he hung in there like a good man. His body language screams... I HATE THIS... but he stuck it out. Shall NOT be taking him back to the groomer, will be keeping up with his claws myself.

Well done to both of you - it's never easy when someone has hurt an animal previously. It's bound to get easier for him every time you do it now.

Thanks. I hope he will get back to how he used to be soon enough. He did impressively well. I really expected him to panic like he did last time.

I used to do Amber's until Steve had a go and went to near the quick, It took me ages after to gain her confidence to do it myself again. It takes a lot of trust from your dog in you not to hurt them and likewise that the last thing you want to do is to hurt them. Well done with Nigredo.

Thank you. I believe Nigredo did better than I expected because it was not I who hurt his foot. He was still uncomfortable, but he let me do it. Glad to see that I'm not the only one who has had to deal with this.
