As I'm a nurse, we get offered the swine flu jab and the seasonal flu jab routinely. I've had them once but I'm not doing it again because everyone I know had some kind of reaction to it...either flu like symptoms or swollen arm!
I didn't have it last year either. I'm willing to take the risk and not have it...I'll just eat loads of vitamin C!!

When I was still living in town, a couple of years the Health Fund did not have any supplies [same Health Fund as on the Moshav but obviously the clinic was in town].

Each time I went to a pharmacy and bought the vaccine - no prescription is necessary for it here, and each time [different pharmacies] I asked if I could go into a staff-room or somewhere so I could jab myself. Raised eyebrows but no problem, and each one brought me an alcohol wipe to use without me even asking.

From what I can remember it did not cost much more than the Health Fund charge.

Just got back from the surgery and had my flu jab refused because I have the flu, got some antibiotics and have to go back again in 10 days to try again.

I was first in the queue at the doctors and am due to have my vaccination on Saturday providing I don't catch anything before then.

The last few years I paid to have the vaccination, £12 at Boots the chemist. This year I qualify to have one free from the doctors because I have developed a respiratory condition.

Before I retired I routinely had the vaccination at work . The only adverse reaction I ever experienced was a bruised arm.

As I understand it, it only protects from one strain of flu?

I have had it in the past - it's free for me as a diabetic - but I've refused it the last couple of years as it includes HN51 and swine flu.

I've never had flu in my life

I'll pass again this year, I think

Vicki I understand the vaccination is a 'cocktail' based on the viruses predicted by the W.H.O.to be prevelent that year.

Every year I have had a bad reaction, just feel as rough as a badgers backside plus a sore arm. But for some reason last year no reaction at all, only the sore arm. Hope it's the same this year.

I always thought nothing of Swine flu , until a close friend nearly died 2 years ago from it .
He was in a coma all over Christmas and the other 2 people in the hospital with it passed away ...
He is in his 30s with 2 kids under 6

I didn't think anyone paid
I've always assumed it was free everywhere, or is that just Scotland ?
I have to get as I take an immuno suppressant drug.
