clicker

can i use my clicker training to get otis off the sofa and therefore to stop himbiting me when i shout at him to get off or is it only to be used for basic commands?

Yes-you can use the clicker to teach him to come to you and generally to get his attention.Arm yourself with some smelly/tasty treats and he should learn quickly a 'click' means food.

yes u can use the clicker for that i should think. The clicker can be used for most things. When hes on the sofa, lure him off with a treat, click, give the cue work such as 'off' and treat. Do this until he understands what 'off' means, dont try and force him off with physical force such as pulling him off as it creates resistance.

While we're on the subject, what exactly is the use of clicker training? It seems like a middle man to me... why lure him with a treat and click and say the word, the dog will still have to learn the word because I don't want to be clicking all my dogs life!

I've never really understood the logic so can someone help me out? I want to train my puppy right...
