help needed for 2 months tops!

Hello everyone,
PLease can you help me help my friend. SHe has split from her husband this weekend under a very dark cloud, and although has managed to get herself and her child into somewhere safe for the time being she is devastated that she is facing possibly having to lose her beloved dogs Roxy and I think the other is Flo. They are 9 months and 8 years a GSD and GSD x Rottie, both lovely temps, socialised and loving. She is wanting to find a foster career until she is back on her feet in her own home-however she has been advised by a support worker at womens aid that this may take up to 3 months!
Obviously her head is all over the place but the thought of losing her two devoted animals is making things worse as I am sure you can imagine. If there is anyone in the manchester area/salford area please please get in touch. I know it is a manic time of year and things are mad for all fosterers but please please if you know anyone at all let me know PM or email for phone number many thanks x Lisa

Have tried local vets fosteres, PUP, cinamon trust, Paws for kids.

If she has been in an abusive relationship, the Dog's Trust might be able to help. I work for the Freedom Project, and although they only cover London and Yorkshire, it might be worth getting in touch with them to see if they could do anything.

I'll PM you the phone number.

Have you tried BIGGSD (add www. and .com to the beginning and end respectively)

They help foster dogs all the time and specialise in GSD's.

Sorry I can't help, I will certainly ask around though. Goodluck to your friend and I hope she finds someone. If the dogs are insured, I wonder if the insurance company would help??

Thank you to everyone especially Sarah the good news is that freedom are helping Liz and she shall hopefully have the dogs fostered as of tomorrow eveing not too far from us. Also she has VERY luckily (fingers crossed) found a small cottage at other end of the town with an enclosed garden-if this all works out dogs and her shall be in new home by end of month! YIPPEE! WW not thought of the insurance will they do that? I know she's filling in a lot of stuff the neighbours are doing statements etc... and myself to say the dogs are at risk. He has left them with no water and they havent been in the house since friday poor darlings we took her down to feed them the other night and they were so upset- she doesn't have a key -the ******* took it- so can only get access to garden by jumping fence- another friend of ours has kindly offered to groom for free when we get them out! x

Do you mean does the Freedom Project do insurance? If so, then yes they will provide everything the dogs need. All the foster carers are fully insured by Dog's Trust, any vets bills paid for, food, toys, beds provided.

They'll also go and get the dogs from the house so your friend doesn't have to see her ex.

I'm so pleased they were able to help. I suppose with the, covering Yorkshire, the Women's Aid wouldn't have known about them. They do work with a lot of other agencies, but not everyone has heard of them.
