obedience last night...

millie decided she hates thel lab that shoved its face into hers - so she growled, bared her teeth.

the owner just stood there - i was like do you mind - your dogs like twice the size of mine

wont post language what i was thinking here

that was at the start of the class

did some obedience, the lady did a demo for me with millie, and omg she has lovely heelwork!!! (proud mummy sorry to boast!) - we did a recall with me screeching with a toy in my hand sit stays and down stays which we need to work on

all in all a very good class

then

we were sat on our chair away from everyone, the lad comes near, so i tried to get millie attention, camed up sniffed her (the owner had it on a lead btw) - lab sniffs millie, millie turns round and goes for it - and i mean goes for it

lab -soft and stupid - decides not to move (the owner btw was stnading watching) as im trying to drag millie off - the owner never moved the lab and we were sat there first!!!!!!

then i decides after that - let millie go play with a dog i know for a bit to let her know not all dogs are nasty!!

nothing against labs - its the owners of some dogs you just want to strangle right???

Sorry but I would not have moved either, you obviously have the problem dog. I realise you are at training to help her and pulling dogs away from her will let her think she can get away with it. Always try introduce her to a dogs back end first, they never usualy attack from behind though I have known one that did.
I find this kind of behaviour towards other dog owners very sad. We all love our dogs and with the growing anti-dog brigade we need to stick together and help each other, not fight like...well mad dogs.
Try being more relaxed around her... an uptight owner makes an uptight dog. Good Luck

I'd differ in my view, as all dogs need space and even the best behaved dog will tell another dog off if it gets too pushy or if they are afraid of it.

It's normal dog behaviour and it's up to us to train dogs to relax as much as possible with others around, but if another dog forces its attentions on another then it's normal for it to be told to mind its manners.

Often things relax more as people get to know each other's dogs and learn to give more space.

Many peeps aren't dog savvy. IMO all dogs need space - to allow one dog to upset another by crowding it isn't really fair IMO

Hmm, it sounds to me like your dog had the problem with the Labrador.

I believe in letting dogs sort things out for themselves (as long as their aren't tearing each other to bits, obviousl).

Dog sniff each other, that's what they do, that's part of how they get to know each other. I think you are over-reacting a tad.

Hope Millie comes round to the Labrador.

Sorry I find your whole post offensive and childish, your lucky its not my training club you attend, you need to stop blaming the world for the problems your dog is having and get on and deal with them,

I completely agree, Dougiepit.

Sorry, Suze, it's sounds like your dog has the problem, not the Labrador or it's owner. Sounds like your dog needs to learn more socialisation skills.

Also, most Labradors are not stupid, they are just incredibly slow to mature.

I doubt you would allow this sort of thing to happen in the first place Shona, it certainly would be sorted out in our class...as for keeping dogs away from each other and not allow them to sniff each other...have you not heard of socialisation Wysiwyg? It is one of the first things we teach at dog training, yes of course dogs grumble when their space is invaded...so do I for that matter but this dog is on an outright attack and needs to be stopped before someone gets hurt.

Ditto, Bribiba....

Socialisation is one of the first, important things a dog should be taught in life.

Can I ask, Suze, when yourself and your dog were displaying this anti-social behaviour towards the Labrador and it's owner, did any of the dog training intructors at your dog club intervene?

Thanks.
