Alaunt?????

hi want sure where to put this, cross or unrecognised so i popped it here.
A man came into our surgery today as he wanted to register his dog with us and the police station???
he asked me what i thought she was,i looked at her and saw a very nice looking sbt x mastiff type that we see alot of,
trick question! lol,he shot me down and said she is an Alaunt!! and started showing me her undershot jaw,not quite sure why!i said oh ok,who are they registered with,kc,fci,he replied you!! doh!
not only is she the most ancient breed she would cost you £2500 !!!(his son breeds them) and guess what ...they have two seasons a year??!! wtf

They are a very old breed, recently recreated like umpteen other types. Very much, mastiff/staff/greyhound in looks.

I had a woman e-mail me asking about using my boy on her 'alaunt bitch' she was telling me how they are a grey hound mastiff/ bullmastiff cross and that her girls breeder told her she would need to put her to a bullmastiff dog to get bulkier pups, she them went on to tell me they didnt have the stud fee and would give it to me when the pup were born, she did try telling me a bit of history on the breed but i stoped her and told her not to waist hers and my time, as i would never let me boy go to anything other than another bullmastiff and then only i though she was suituable

Oh, come on....
What a load of BS! Mr Plummer says he can breed a dog like the Argentine Dogo (I assume because they`re banned) and someone comes up with the idea that they should be like a dog from the Dark Ages of Medieval Europe when tribes were fighting for supremacy in the ruins of the Roman Empire. It should of course be fairly easy because of all the photos, breed books and desciptions from that time...not. Nope! Not even a decent painting.
Never mind, it all makes a nice romantic Aryan story.

Brian Plummer made up quite a lot of things. Visiting his kennels in Scotland was not a pleasant experience!
