Printer Question.

I have an Epson C44UX printer. Its only a cheap printer but its okay for what we want it for. What I wanted to ask was does it REALLY matter what ink you use in them. I know that Epson say that only their inks should be used in them but they are just so expensive. I think they are about £15 for the colour and about £12 for the black which to me seems a lot and my son uses the ink like there is no tomorrow

Tesco do inks for my printer for £5.84 and £6.84 and I have bought some today. Does using other inks wreck the printer because the prices seem very reasonable.

I use a C44 and dont use Epsom cartridges.I buy them from supermarket at 1/2 the price of genuine.

The only thing is-when installing the cartridge it will ask you permision to allow a non genuine one,but havent had any probs. They are chipped which is how it knows!

Epson likes you to use their cartridges ... I wonder why

The printer costs around £55, so if it came with a £15 colour cartridge and a £12 black one, the printer itself is worth £28 ie a change of cartridges.

Epson suggest that you would void their warranty if you used another manufacturer's inks - I'm fairly sure that if contested in court it would be declared an unfair contract.

Go ahead and try some other compatibles - they may give you slightly different print characteristics than the originals.

I buy from a local shop in Leigh. They have a web site.
http://www.cannings.co.uk/ They are great to deal with.
I have found everything much cheaper from them.
