I get so upset by these threads - i wish i worked from home then i would have them all. But please can you enlighten my ignorance, why do these dogs get PTS if no home is found by the date stated? Can they not get fostered or moved to other kennels?

These dogs are looking for rescue places...not homes.
So - a kennel space at a rescue, or an experienced foster home - with a rescue.
If a place is not found, unfortunately, yes, they are put to sleep after their 7 days is up

The reason they are looking for rescue places is the dogs are unassessed, and nothing is known about them, and they are often unvaccinated, un flea treated, not wormed, and not neutered.

It is awful isn't it.
There are just so many stray/unwanted dogs every week, that they have to do 'something' to make room for others - hence trying to find them rescue spaces.

Just thought I'd mention - if anyone wants to help these poundies, although they can't be fostered directly, many rescues will have assessed, healthy dogs that they can move out into foster homes, and that will mean they have kennel space to take in a poundie instead. If you are able to volunteer to foster (not everyone can: I can't) it will help save lives.

(That first sweetie's face is haunting me now, arg, why did I look!)
