In most cases it is perfectly safe, as long as guidlelines are followed but heres a link that notes some of the side effects. It can be obtained/taken in liquid form which contains alcohol.....so....not something you would want to use if you if already have liver damage. (Pill form doesnt contain alcohol).

Bottom line is be 'informed' before taking any drug even if it is the latest herbal remedy that everyone is 'raving about'.

Not that milk thistle is a new remedy, its been around for centuries but even with this precautions should be taken if you are using other medication or already have certain medical problems...like I said...nothing wrong with being informed.

That's v helpful, thanks Flipper.

Your advice should be considered alongside any supplement. I do know though that SOME clinical trials have shown milk thistle to be good for liver regeneration though obviously not in alcohol!!! Good point!

This is just a reminder for people with dogs having epilepsy. Please don't continue to vaccinate, even if your vet tells you it the 'benefits outweigh the risks'. Tell them to look in their manual written BY the vaccine manufacturers. It tells them not to vaccinate if an animal already has an existing auto-immune disease or an immune deficiency.

It is your dog, relying on you to be informed, take control!
