Yes I think some stuff is three weeks but Scottish salmon like this just 24 hours. I have heard elsewhere though that in the UK salmon is frozen before being sold but it is just hearsay.

Sorry if this is butting in, but although I cannot obtain salmon heads here. I can get fresh carp heads [and possibly other fish heads] - would those be OK to give Pereg?

I believe the only problems with salmon parasites is from Atlantic salmon. You should be fine with Scottish salmon. Yum

Ah that was it Atlantic stuff, yeah hopefully he'll be alright with this! He's had the scraps a couple times before but no head so this will be interesting, I will take photos when the time comes see if he is enjoying it or not

I shopped in a Morrisons which isnt local to me the other day and they'd got salmon trimmings for sale, including the head. I did ponder buying it but decided on the safer option of just some flesh trimmings!
