I think people are underestimating their capabilities when they are older. I was over 60 when I got Daisy and can`t say I`ve found it harder than I would have done 20 or 30 years ago. Provided you keep fairly active you should be roughly the same. I don`t run...but then I never did.

Would I have to down size the type of dog I wanted ? is there an age when we shouldn't have a dog ?
I'd love to hear what you all think about that !
I took the cat to the vets the other day and there was a old lady in there waiting for her pet, her pet turned out to be a 3 year old bully pulling like mad to get to her, the vet nurse struggled to control her,
She handed her to her owner and she changed completly she was spot on walking to heel and this little old lady had no trouble controlling her at all.
I think it depends on the individual so there's hope for you yet

Funnily enough I have been thinking about this, this week.
My neighbour (73) lost her Westie last Monday. She is devastated and absolutely lost without him.
I think she is thinking along the lines of "I want another but should I"
It's a difficult call.

I'll be 60 this year, and my Great Dane X is 11 months old... plus I have Jessie, a Bull Mastiff X.. If I keep on being fit and healthy, I'll have large dogs next time around as well... but I realise that I may have to downsize in the future...
