Can anyone explain how whole of life insurance works?

I thought it covered a condition for the whole of the dogs life but when I'm looking through my papers they have excluded conditions that I have previously claimed for?

How does that work? I'm with Pet Plan

Ah, but did you claim for those conditions with the SAME insurance company? If not, then of course, they will exclude them if a new company. Hope that helps?

Yes, I've been with PP for the last 5 years or so? They seemed to imply that they've paid out for them so they are now excluded? Oooh I'm confused!!

My girl is covered by Pet Plan, she has life time cover thankfully, she has been covered by pet plan since she was 8 weeks old, she is now 4 years old.

Pet plan cover her for £4.000 per illness, per year, sadly for the past two years she has been very ill with the same condition, they have paid up to the £4.000 and when the policy has been renewed they start the £4.000 cover again, all I pay is the excess. Her condition is ongoing sadly.

Does it give a limit on the amount the cover will pay out for??

Have you previously reached the limit with conditions you have claimed.

P.S........Just taken a look at PP , they do 2 "life" covers one for 4.000 and one for 12,OOO

Which one do you have, if you have reached the amount insured for , then they will then exclude the condition when you renew your policy

Thanks all, yes its the 4,000 but there is no way I have reached that amount. Will have to give them a bell tomorrow I think, I'm obviously getting the wrong end of the stick somewhere!!

Mine is for £4.000 and yes I have reached that amount, the next year the amount goes back to 0 and if need be I can claim up to £4.000 for the same condition (or any other condition as it is per condition you claim for), there are no exclutions I just have to pay the excess
