The Kennel Club will not register an AI litter if the sire is resident inside the UK. Only if the sperm is imported from abroad, and prior permission has been granted.

You would have to either own the stud, in which case what would be the point. Or you would have to find a stud who was not only right for your bitch, difficult enough, but owned by an owner who was not only dishonest and also knew how to take and store a sample.

If you signed the form and handed over the straws how would you know that any bitch listed as having a litter to your stud were in fact his progeny and not that of any convenient dog, unless you were prepared to pay for DNA tests. No thanks, would rather not even think about it, it the owner of a bitch can't put in the effort to bring the bitch to my dog they can look else where for a service.

You'd have more chance of missing you bitches season as the statement said using AI!...you could inseminate at any time of a bitches season whereas if done' naturaly' the bitch will only allow mating at the correct time and a stud is usually only interested when the bitch is ready!

What utter nonsense, would you rather a straw, dam sure I would not. Successful AI is not easy and because it is normal to enter the cervix it needs to be done under sterile conditions, who amongst us can provide than.

I think its better to let nature take its course, I have never once had a bitch miss a mating, I own my own studs so that makes it easier I can mate them every day they stand, but for anyone who has to travel to a stud I think the natural way is best, (and if both dogs get pleasure out of it - well mine do anyway ) why deny them that natural pleasure?

i agree AI should not be done and i think its over used in other countries
i know ppl use it when they cant get a mating for any reason (dogs just dont hit the right spot) but if that is the case then maybe the matting should not take plase
