Hmm.... that wasn't expected!

Well after a week and a half off work trying to recover from a respiratory tract infection with not a lot of luck (the sore throat has gone - cough is still very prominent), I coughed up a blood clot this afternoon and phoned the GP.

The GP wanted me to go in after surgery to be checked out as I'm prone to pulmonary embolisms, other blood clots and bleeding. I'm also on warfarin so worth getting it checked out.

Apparently... I have asthma! She listened to my chest and said 'you're quite wheezy - have you been using your inhalers'.

I explained that I don't have asthma - I had it as a child (hence it's on my notes) but grew out of it years ago.

She said it's likely I've had a mild chest infection which has brought on the asthma but she's given me an xray request to go and get a chest xray should I cough any more blood.

Meanwhile - maybe dog walking will be easier now that I have inhalers!!

Fingers crossed it's as simple a solution as that. I know my chest has been a bit tighter lately too so maybe I should be back on the inhalers!
Hope you recover well now.

I hope you feel better soon, those inhalers are magic. I find this time of year is the worst for my chest problems.

Thanks Jane and Heather

I've always struggled with walking the dogs in the cold - it gives me coughing fits and I do get breathless easily but I always just put the breathlessness down to the anaemia!!

Hopefully this will sort it out
